Well, we finally did it. It’s our first week of “freedom”. I write that in quotes because Sam still has a few freelance obligations to knock out before we leave, but for the most part, we’ve finished up our professional obligations. How does it feel? Well, it’s been a slow start.
How does it feel? Well, it’s been a slow start.
Sam came down with a case of strep throat and is finally just getting back to feeling normal. It has been really nice having the time to allow ourselves plenty of rest, work on packing up the apartment, and tying up loose ends.
With all that downtime and several web searches, we finally caved and bought a custom teardrop trailer for our travels. Our original plan was to travel in just our Toyota 4Runner, which housed an amazing bed in the back that Sam built a few months ago. But the more we planned, the more we realized that we probably would like a little more space and organization. And well, it would just be nice to pull into a camping spot for the night and not have to race the setting sun getting ourselves situated. The new camper will have a bed for us to sleep in, plenty of organization, a camping stove, and a cooler/fridge.
We are most excited by the solar panel upgrade which will give us chargeable energy for our electrical devices. Still thinking of what to name it!
Thanks for stopping by! Here, you’ll find updates about our journey on the road through the U.S. over the next several months.
Rhoda !!
